A ditsy old spinster gets involved in the boxing racket and gangland murders and is falsely accused of being notorious murderer Ma Parker 1942 American Crime Action-Comedy Film also known as Aunt Emma Paints the Town and Meet the Mob Long Summary Aunt Emma Bates Zasu Pitts a spinster visits the Big Town to see a boxing match participated in by Mickey O'Banion Malcolm 'Bud' McTaggart son of Emma's old fianc who was himself a boxing champion At the arena Emma sits next to Terry Roger Pryor a reporter who is trying to track down Rex Crenshaw Irving Mitchell the lawyer for gangster Flower Henderson Tristram Coffin who has been kidnapped by rival gang leader Gus Hammond Douglas Fowley and manager of Mickey After the fight Emma is mistaken for a notorious gun-woman named Ma Parker and suspected by Hammond's henchmen of working in the interests of Henderson Mickey is shot during an altercation at Henderson's nightclub and is later kidnapped from the hospital by his manager's men and taken to an East Side outlaw Emma in an effort to free Mickey and with the aid of Maris Gwen Kenyon Terry's fianc e decides to pose as Ma Parker Tivia Douglas Fowley had roles in more than 240 films and dozens of television programs He is probably best remembered for his role as the frustrated movie director Roscoe Dexter in Singin' in the Rain 1952 and for his regular supporting role as Doc Holliday in The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp Other films include Twenty Mule Team Fall Guy Mighty Joe Young Angels in the Outfield Battleground Armored Car Robbery Chick Carter Detective The Naked Jungle The High and the Mighty and Walking Tall ZaSu Pitts enjoyed her greatest fame in the early 1930s often starring in B movies and comedy short films teamed with Thelma Todd She played secondary parts in many films Her stock persona a fretful flustered worried spinster made her instantly recognizable and was often imitated in cartoons and other films She starred in a number of Hal Roach short films and features often in partnership with Thelma Todd as two trouble-prone working girls Her final role was as Gertie the switchboard operator in the Stanley Kramer comedy epic It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World 1963 Director Jean Yarbrough Starring Zasu Pitts Roger Pryor Warren Hymer Cast ZaSu Pitts as Aunt Emma Bates Roger Pryor as Terry Connors Globe-Register Reporter Warren Hymer as Joe Gormley Hammond Goon Douglas Fowley as Gus Hammond Gwen Kenyon as Maris Terry's Girl Elizabeth Russell as Zelda Lafontaine Tristram Coffin as Flower Henderson Club Savoy Owner Malcolm Bud McTaggart as Mickey O'Banion Stanley Blystone as Det Lt Miller Dick Elliott as Evans Globe- Register Editor Jack Mulhall as Reporter Burns
